From September 26 to October 4, 2013 the Asian Championship in modern pentathlon takes place in Kazakhstan, Astana for the first time. As part of the continental championship, the qualifying competitions will also be held at the Youth Olympic Games from Asia and Oceania. The event will bring together the strongest athletes from China, Japan, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea and Australia.
Modern Pentathlon is a unique combination of five sports in one complex. It combines different in focus and spirit competitions such as fencing, swimming, show jumping, running and shooting.
Under the banner of the national team the following athletes will perform:
Men's team - Pavel Ilyashenko, Rustem Sabirkhuzin and Andrei Soldatov, the head coach Dmitriy Tyurin;
Women's team - Xenia Alexandrova, Dariya Khalzova and Yulia Kolegova, the head coach Valeriy Koshelskiy.
The head coach of the national team is Vadim Chudnovskiy.
Arina Dzhiyenbalanova will not take part in the Asian Championship as a leader of the women's team, who just recovered from injury and has only recently started to train.
